From a DevOps perspective, the core philosophy of Qubit Pharmaceuticals is to be hardware agnostic in an heavy HPC environment. We use CPU, GPU (we own our NVIDIA A100 40 GPU cluster) and QPU (quantum partnership with Pasqal) to leverage on any single piece of processing power available on earth! These hardware targets are cloud based and managed/used with the following technologies:
Micro services cloud-based (cross cloud provide thanks to Terraform) rails api server to deliver the best of HPC for CADD
Gitlab or the development environment (repository, MR, CI/CD)
Rails 6 for JSON API server and Delayed job runners services
Vue.js 2.6 for the front-end server (running against nodejs 12.22.5)
Gitlab as a cross platform job manager for production
Rspec and jest for unit testing
PostgreSQL 13 and ElasticSearch 8.1 (cloud based for both logs and user search engine)
Docker/Singularity virtualization techniques
As DEVOPS ENGINEER you will be in charge of the development, testing and production environments to optimize our development processes, our production computing costs and our testing coverage.
You will be part of the team in charge of the developments of the cloud based drug discovery platform : Atlas. Yet, you will have full autonomy in your decision making and choice of technologies.
You will be in direct interaction with C-level people at Qubit-Pharmaceuticals involved in the agile sprints with end users.
What you’ll be doing
Coding and Scripting:
You should be capable of automating the entire DevOps pipeline, including CI/CD cycles, app performance monitoring, infrastructure and configurations, among others.
Automated test cases make the process faster and ensure quality delivery to the end-user.
Testing stands crucial to DevOps success. DevOps automation pipeline will need tests that run well without fail. This is important for the success of continuous testing, where the automated tests are executed.
The rate of risks often matches with the speed of deployment that DevOps facilitates. Given this constraint, security at the end or as a separate process in the traditional method might not work. This is where DevSecOps proves to be an advantage integrating security with SDLC right from the start.
With your expertise in cloud computing, you’ll architect and build cloud native systems, wrangle cloud systems’ complexity, and ensure that best practices are followed when utilizing a wide variety of cloud service offerings. You’ll also weigh the pros and cons of using IaaS services versus PaaS and other managed services when designing and recommending solutions.
Understanding of Relevant Tools
DevOps success purely depends on the toolset it involves during different phases of its implementation. It’s hard to even count the number of tools that DevOps brought in.
Make things as simple and straightforward as possible. Great coding skills are required but design capabilities are at least as important.
At Qubit Pharmaceuticals our agile sprints are 2 weeks long. We believe that, from time to time, good documentation is better than quick and dirty code. Development quality is at the heart of our agile processes.
Soft Skills and Noble Thought
Qubit’s culture goes far beyond the ability to write good code. Our team members are self-motivated, flexible, and always learning professionals who can thrive only when surrounded by like-minded people.
